This novel is about a 14 year old unattractive girl named Holly being asked out to the 8th grade dinner dance by Jake, one of the most popular guys in school. Unfortunately, the reason he asked Holly was because of a bet. Jake was to break up with his girlfriend, Jessica, change Holly into a beautiful girl and take her to the dance. After a few weeks of knowing Holly, Jake realizes that they have a lot in common and actually likes her. But later on, Jake's friend, Byran, was just making him do the bet because he wanted a date to the dance. So, Bryan told Holly the whole truth about what Jake was doing to Holly. Holly now knows that Jake was just using her as a bet. Will Holly accept Jake's apology and move on with Bryan?
